Cllr Mike Lilley, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder forPublic Safety and Licensing, said: “We want Colchester to continue to have a thriving town centre, and success relies on good-quality and easy-to-access town centre parking. I’m pleased that over the last year we have been able to upgrade all our pay and display machines to accept contactless, ApplePay and MiPermit payment options and have fully refurbished Priory Street Car Park.

“Vineyard Street Car Park is the perfect location for those wanting to access the town centre directly via the lift. It seems to get some negative press every now and again due to minor breakdowns of the lift, but our figures clearly show in the last 11 months it has only been out of use for a total of 14 hours, which I think is good for a highly used facility.”
