On the 1 August Colchester Borough Council will be launching the 13th round of the Big Community Switch, the opportunity to reduce your energy bills.
The scheme has been set up for residents so that they can easily switch energy providers and reduce their energy bills. Since the scheme began, the typical Colchester household partaking in the Switch saved over £200 per year on the cost of gas and/or electricity.
Between the 1 August and the 9 October, residents will be encouraged to go online to register their details for a free no-obligation offer to switch.
Councillor Scott-Boutell, Portfolio Holder for Sustainability, said: “Getting a better deal on energy costs is not something you might immediately think about during the summer months, but this Big Community Switch round is perfectly timed to ensure residents are switched over and paying less by the end of November 2017.
“Although the scheme is only available online, residents can register up to five friends and family so it’s a perfect opportunity to help older or vulnerable family members check the energy tariffs they are on.
“Residents that never switch are highly likely to be paying the most for their energy costs; it doesn’t pay to stay with an energy company for many years. It doesn’t take long to register, and the switching is all done for you, it couldn’t be simpler.”
All you need is an email address and a recent energy bill for each address you want to receive a switching offer for, residents can switch electricity, gas or both fuels through the Councils website www.colchester.gov.uk/bigcommunityswitch
