On Monday 13 November, the group announced a number of new tour dates, including a concert at Castle Park on Saturday 16 June 2018.

Steps first broke onto the pop scene in 1997. Their debut single ‘5, 6, 7, 8’ achieved record-breaking success, followed by an unbroken run of fourteen Top 10 singles, two four-times Platinum albums and one five-times Platinum album. Earlier this year, they returned with a new album, Tears on the Dancefloor, which hit Silver status in just three weeks.

Castle Park is a suitably impressive venue for the legendary pop group, with over 2,000 years of history. The park’s 11 hectares of sweeping lawn and landscaped gardens surround iconic Colchester Castle at the centre of the town.

Steps will be supported by pop act Blue. The British boyband dominated global charts from the early 2000s and have amassed five studio album – including three UK Number One Platinum-selling albums, two Brit Awards and more than 40 million record-sales worldwide, including 16 million album-sales.

A bumper crowd is expected for the gig and organisers recommend customers get their tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Councillor Tim Young, Portfolio Holder for Business and Culture, said: “The Council has been working closely with the Liz Hobbs Group, who are promoting the tour nationally, and I am excited that Steps are playing at Castle Park in 2018.

“To have an international superstar group playing at Castle Park is a great endorsement of the venue and the facilities we offer – and a fantastic opportunity for fans in Colchester to enjoy a spectacular concert so close to home!”

Tickets at Colchester Castle Park are priced at: £39.50 + booking fee (Bronze), £45.00 + booking fee (Silver) and £65.00 + booking fee (Golden Circle)
