It’s Helge’s 60th birthday and guests are looking forward to a lavish dinner party. But, beneath the polished veneer there are dark and painful secrets. Rising to toast his father’s lifetime of success, eldest son Christian decides this is the moment to break the silence. With gathering and gut-wrenching tension, the family battles for the truth. While for guests trapped between explosive revelations, the best thing they can do is the conga.
Adapted from the legendary Dogme 95 film, Festen is a raw, shattering and darkly comic view of the denials that hold families together.
Originally produced in London by Marla Rubin Productions
Presented by arrangement with IPR Ltd, London and Nordiska ApS, Copenhagen
Suitable for ages 16+
Emotional themes of mental illness, suicide, sexual abuse and racism. Some violent scenes and scenes of a sexual nature.
Water-based haze used for lighting effects.
