Supporters of Colchester United F.C. are being urged to get behind a new fundraising campaign aimed at replacing one of the club’s most recognisable matchday instruments.
A crowdfunding appeal has been launched to raise money for a brand-new bespoke drum used by supporters both home and away, helping to create the atmosphere many fans have come to know and love at games.
The current drum, which has become a familiar sound among the singing sections of the fanbase, is said to have “seen better days”, prompting supporters to organise a replacement that will continue driving the atmosphere inside the stadium.
Organisers say the new drum will not be “just any old drum”, with plans for a custom-made design that is currently being kept secret until it is officially presented to the drummers and the BLUEWHITEARMY (BWA).
Any additional money raised beyond the target will be donated directly to the BWA supporters group, which regularly uses fan donations to purchase flags, banners and custom posters to help improve the matchday experience and decorate the ground.
Fans are being encouraged to contribute whatever they can — even as little as £1 — and to share the campaign across social media to help reach as many supporters as possible.
